An article in the Wall Street Journal “Relatives Can Be Paid to Look After Elderly” concerns me.

With jobs being lost in numbers the United States has not experienced since wartime in the 1940’s, more and more families have a member that has joined the league of the unemployed. They are the ones taking on the responsibility of caring for Grandma to save money, or as they more honestly mean… to preserve Grandma’s estate ( it is her money, not their son’s or daughter’s to try to hand onto)!
Sure you might be saving “her” money, instead of moving your elder to a senior living place. What families are loosing sight of is that these places are specially designed to care for her in the style she deserves and to give her quality of life, living with dignity in her later years. I ask you… are families doing this with the best interest of the senior in mind?
